(CAM) A special election will be conducted for the CAM Community School District on March 2nd to adopt a Revenue Purpose Statement specifying the use of revenues the CAM Community School District will receive from the State of Iowa Secure an Advanced Vision for Education Fund.
A request for an absentee ballot may be requested from the Cass County Auditor now, but a ballot may not be mailed out until February 1. Beginning February 1st, a person may vote an absentee ballot at the Cass County Auditor’s office at the courthouse in Atlantic, Iowa. Last day to vote an absentee ballot at the Cass County Auditor’s office is March 1.
Pre-registration for persons to vote in this Special Election closes at 5:00 P.M. Friday, February 19, 2021. Same day registration and voting is permitted after voter presents proof of identity and residency.
The polling center for all voters residing in Adair County or Audubon County; and all voters residing in the Cass County townships of Grant, Benton, Franklin or Lincoln is: the Anita Community Center (805 Main St). The polling center for all voters residing in Adams County and all voters residing in the Cass County townships of Massena, Union, Bear Grove, Noble, Edna or Victoria is: the Cumberland Community Building (200 W 2nd, Cumberland). Polls open at 7 A.M. and close at 8 P.M. at all precincts.
The notice states: “If a majority of eligible electors voting on the question fail to approve this Revenue Purpose Statement, then upon expiration of the current Revenue Purpose Statement, revenues received by the School District from the Secure and Advanced Vision for Education fund shall be expended in the following order: The payment of bonds for which SAVE Revenue has been pledged; Reduction of bond levies under Iowa Code Sections 298.18 and 298.18A and all other debt levies; Reduction of the regular and voter-approved physical plant and equipment levy under Iowa Code Section 298.2; Reduction of the public educational and recreational levy under Iowa Code Section 300.2; For any authorized infrastructure purpose of the school district as defined in Iowa Code Section 423F.3(6); and For the payment of principal and interest on bonds issued under Iowa Code Sections 423E.5 and 423F.4.”
