(Atlantic) The weather today is helping Cass County crews get the roads cleared.
Cass County Engineer Trent Wolken said, “The sun coming out, with our salt and sand chemicals, it helps activate that and melt the snow on our paved roads and so we’re getting a lot of good melting on that. We’re hitting the gravels and we’re trying to get everybody out by the end of the day today. Things are looking better than they were this morning.”
Wolken said their biggest challenges have been the east/west gravel roads which have drifted the most because of the wind direction, as well as the sheltered areas where the snow was not able to blow off of the road.
Wolken said he appreciates the public’s patience while they work to get the roads open.
