(Coralville) AHSTW’s Bella Canada and Riverside’s Iliana Yanes each placed 4th at the Girls State Wrestling Tourney in Coralville.
Canada won her first match of the weekend at 195, but fell to the consolation side when she was pinned in the quarterfinals. She won three straight matches on the back side of the bracket with two pins and a decision. In the 3rd place match she lost by fall against the same opponent she lost to in the quarterfinals.
Yanes had a first round bye and won by fall in the quarterfinals. She lost by fall in the semifinals, but came back with a consolation 2nd round pin. In the 3rd place match at 285 Yanes lost by fall.
Glenwood’s Abby McIntyre won the 138 pound bracket. Adyson Lundquist, of SW Valley, finished as the 106 pound runner-up. Sophie Barnes, of Lewis Central, placed 2nd at 120.
