(Corning) Creston/O-M takes a 14 point lead over Missouri Valley into day two of the John Harris Wrestling Tournament. The 106-145 portion of the tourney is complete and Saturday morning brings the 152-285 competition.
Creston/O-M put three wrestlers in the finals and placed in all seven weight classes. Lincoln Keeler, Triston Barncastle, and Garon Wurster led the Panthers with runner-up finish.
Missouri Valley had two finalists with Eli Becerra winning at 106 and Zavier Trovato runner-up at 126.
Riverside wrestlers laid claim to the top spot in two weight classes. The Bulldogs had senior John Schroder as the 113 pound champ and junior Jace Rose won at 120. It’s Schroder’s second career John Harris title and the third for Rose.
Atlantic/CAM’s Joe Weaver was the 126 pound champion for his third career John Harris title.
Mount Ayr crowned Bryce Shaha as the 132 pound champ. Clarinda had one champ with Kale Downey at 138. Logan Jones turned in a great tourney at 145 for Central Decatur. Not only did Jones win the title and earn his 100th career victory, but he topped three rated wrestlers on his way though bracket.
Wrestling resumes at 10:00 Saturday with the 152-285 pound wrestlers.
