(Corning) Nodaway Valley’s perfect record is still intact with ten games remaining in the regular season. The Wolverines jumped out to a 22-9 lead after one quarter on SW Valley and downed the Timberwolves on Tuesday by a final of 79-42.
Macy Kuhns was a difference maker in several aspects early on. She scored 10 of her team high 18 points in the first quarter and came away with a handful of steals. “Macy came out firing,” says head coach Brian Eisbach. “It wasn’t just in transition either, she had some takes. Our transition game usually gets our offense going. Tonight I thought we ran the floor well.” Lindsey Davis and Maddax DeVault each scored 17 while Lexi Shike pitched in 10 points.
Nodaway Valley darted out to a 13-2 lead, but SW Valley clawed back within 15-9 late in the first. That’s when the Wolverines took off. They scored the final seven points of the opening frame and pushed the lead to over 20 points early in the 2nd. Lindsey Davis drilled two three’s and scored a transition layup in the 1:10 of the 2nd quarter to give the visitors a strangle hold on the game. They stretched the lead to 44-20 by halftime.
Nodaway Valley is 12-0 heading into a matchup with Central Decatur on Friday. SW Valley falls to 2-11. The Timberwolves got 11 points from Marah Larsen and 10 out of MaKayla Houck.
