(Red Oak) The Red Oak City Council approved a property sale to a neighboring landowner at Monday’s meeting.
Red Oak City Administrator Brad Wright says the City took ownership of some abandoned property at 102 W. Washington Street. Wright says the property has been empty for years. He says Mike Webb, who owns a storage facility next to it, expressed interest in buying the property. The Council conducted a public hearing and heard no opposition, so the Council sold the property to Webb for $1.00.
In other business, the City Council approved a Street Superintendent’s appointments and a new Water Superintendent. Brad Wright says former Street Superintendent Duane Adams retired over a month ago, so the Council approved the former Water Superintendent Chris Baird’s appointment. The Council approved the promotion of Assistant Water Superintendent Rich Figgins to the Superintendent’s position.
Wright informed the City Council of two demolition projects at 104 and 106 East Corning Street. The asbestos report is complete, and bids for the demolition will go out soon. SWIPCO in Atlantic is assisting with this process.
