(Corning) SW Valley school officials have provided an update on the 66th Annual John J. Harris Wrestling Tournament.
There has been a change in format to COVID-19 guidelines, restrictions, and concerns. Weight classes 106-145 will wrestle to completion on Friday. Weight classes from 152-285 will wrestle their entire portion of the tournament on Saturday. A more in depth schedule is provided below. One of the changes includes wrestlers being eliminated if they lose in the first round. Once brackets get down to eight participants then consolation matches will take place. All wrestling will take place on the two mats in the Activity Center. Weigh ins will take place in the High School gym.
Wrestlers from 23 teams will compete at the tournament scheduled for January 22nd and 23rd in Corning. There will be 25 ranked wrestlers according to The Predicament.
Face coverings will be required. Two spectators are allowed per wrestler. No one else will be allowed a spectator for the tournament. This means the maximum number of tickets a school will receive will be 14 tickets for Friday night and 14 tickets for Saturday.
