(Council Bluffs) Pottawattamie County Sheriff Jeff Danker is retiring today, after 43 ½ years with the Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Danker graduated from the University of Nebraska/Omaha with a Criminal Justice degree and began his duties with the Sheriff’s Office in May of 1977. In his early years, Danker served as a Corrections Specialist, Court Bailiff, Road Patrol, Narcotics Task Force in Omaha, a Drug Investigator in Pottawattamie County, and Sgt. in charge of the Criminal Investigation Unit before he was elected Pottawattamie County Sheriff in 1993.
What is most impressive is Sheriff Danker had just one contested election during his 27-years as Sheriff.
Danker pursued a career enforcement career for several reasons.
Sheriff Danker says he will miss the relationships developed over the years with the employees and others outside the Sheriff’s Office. He noted some of the most satisfying accomplishments during his watch were; the “Shop with the Sheriff” program and a new jail.
Jeff Danker says he doesn’t have any specific plans during his retirement, but he enjoys cleaning up an old missile site near his home, collects classic cars, and will spend time with family.
We wish Sheriff Danker the Best of Luck during his retirement.
