Funeral services for 96-year old Francis Albert Kastner, of Yale, will be 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Panora. Burial will be in Dodge Center Cemetery, rural Bagley.
Francis Albert Kastner, son of Frank & Emily (Biedermann) Kastner, was born March 1, 1924, in rural Yale, Iowa. He passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at the Guthrie County Hospital, Guthrie Center, Iowa. He was the fourth of seven children. He grew up in Washington Township until his mother bought a farm southwest of Yale until he retired. His son Steven lives there now. They moved to Lake Panorama then to Yale in 1986. They have been residents of the New Homestead in Guthrie Center since 2016.
He married Lila Dillavou of rural Bagley on April 22, 1950, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jamaica. They were married 70 years and had four children, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
He attended St. Cecilia Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a 4H leader in the 1960s. He enjoyed camping with his siblings at Springbrook every summer or going south for the winter with his RV group. His biggest trip was with a farm tour to Ukraine in 1993.
Francis is survived by his wife, Lila; children, Elizabeth of Altoona; Frank (Linda) of Bagley; and Steven (Rose Marie) of Yale; grandchildren, Colleen (Matt) Smith of Perry; Casey Hameister of West Des Moines; Stacey (Brian) Simmons of Yale; and James (Kristi) Kastner of Bayard; and five great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by brothers, Joseph of Davenport and Herman of Manhattan, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Rosemary, brothers Carl (Yale), Alfred (Oceanside, CA) Ernest (Newton), and sister Helen Richey (Panora).
