(Area) The National Corn Growers released the results of the 2020 Corn Yield Contest this week, and four growers from Southwest Iowa placed in the top three in Iowa.
Todd Williams of Oakland finished third in the no-Till non-irrigated division. Williams entry, Pioneer, P1366, yielded 292.11 bushels per acre. (Williams’s third-place finish wasn’t included in the original story).
In the Strip, minimum-till, ridge-till non-irrigated division; Matt Bierman, of Glenwood finished first, Craig Becker of Atlantic, second, and Don Waters finished third.
Bierman recorded a yield of 301.03 bushels per acre with Pioneer P1563AM, Becker came in with a yield of 289.98 bushels per acre with Pioneer brand P1185 AM, and Don Waters of Cumberland finished third and a yield of 289.16 bushels per acre with DeKalb brand DKC59-82RIB.
Kent Beebe of Missouri Valley finished third in the Conventional Irrigated Division with a yield of 281.32 bushels per acre with Wyffels Hybrids number W8266RIB.
