Donald Doyce Hildebrand, the son of Donald Doyce and Lois Nadine (Jacobsen) Hildebrand, was born January 30, 1952, in Council Bluffs, IA. He died at his home in Oakland, IA, on Saturday, December 12, 2020, at the age of 68 years, 10 months, and 13 days.
Don lived on a farm south of Minden and attended Minden Independent School through the 8th grade. In 1965, they moved to a farm east of Hancock. Don graduated from Oakland High School with the class of 1970. After graduating, he attended Iowa State University for a year. On September 4, 1971, he was united in marriage to Jacquelyn “Jackie” Marie Blanchard, at the Minden United Church of Christ Chapel. Two children were born to this union, Chris and Danene. They lived in Hancock for a short time before moving to Oakland. Don worked for Oakland Feeding Corp. and Hildebrand Hay, while raising pigs and farming. In 1979, he began working for Northern Natural Gas, where he became a Measurement Technician. In 2000, he retired from Northern Natural, but remained busy helping others whenever he was needed.
Don loved spending time at his cabin in South Dakota, paddle trips on the boundary waters, fishing, skiing, golfing, and going to the casino. He looked forward to going to the state fair every year. He had served as president of the Oakland Golf Course.
Don is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Dean; a brother in infancy, Duane; and his mother-in-law, LaVinna Blanchard.
He is survived by his wife Jackie of Oakland; his children, Chris Hildebrand (Kickie) of Des Moines, IA, and Danene Hildebrand of Council Bluffs, IA; his sisters, Karen and Mary Hildebrand of Oakland, IA; his sisters-in-law, ReAnn Hildebrand of Oakland, IA, and Sherri Blanchard (Ty) of Carson City, NV; his nephews, Terry and Ryan Hildebrand; his niece Anna Ruppelt (Eric); his great nephew Ayden; and his father-in-law Doc Blanchard of Oakland, IA. Don is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is assisting the family.
