(Griswold) Stanton improved to 4-1 in girls basketball with a 58-46 decision over Griswold on Tuesday. The Viqueens had four players in double figures and extended the lead to over 20 points in the 2nd half.
Marleigh Johnson led the way with 18 points, Jenna Stephens scored 16, Hope Ogletree 11, and Abby Burke 10. The Viqueens turned a 4-2 lead into a 20-4 advantage with a great stretch of play midway through the opening quarter. They led 20-6 after one and didn’t see the advantage get any smaller than 14 points until the final minute of the game.
Griswold’s Kalainee Teaney notched 14 points and Josie Mundorf scored 10. The Tigers were held to just five field goals and 12 points in the first half. Griswold made a late run with eight quick points in the final couple of minutes, but the Viqueens put the starters back in the game and ran out the clock. McKenna Wiechman scored eight points, Brenna Rossell had seven, Hope Ogg five, and Mikala Pelzer two.
Next up for the 2-2 Tigers is a home date with Sidney on Friday.
