Rosie Hansen, 81, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Select Specialty Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.
Allan Hansen, 80, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Cass County Memorial Hospital.
Public viewing and visitation for Allan and Rosie without family present will be from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 4, 2020, at Hockenberry Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa.
A private family graveside service will be held in the Atlantic Cemetery.
Hockenberry Family Care is in charge of arrangements.
State mandates only allow 15 people in a public setting at any given time, social distancing must be followed and masks are mandatory.
Rosie Irene Hansen was born September 23, 1939, in Glenwood, Iowa, and adopted by Henry and Beulah (Schoonober) Lilienthal.
She attended school in Exira and graduated from the Exira High School.
She married Allan Hansen on November 23, 1958, in Atlantic, Iowa.
Rosie was a hard-working farmwife helping in every aspect of the farming needs. She was a member of the Brayton Lutheran Church, the BPO DOES and the Red Hat Ladies.
Rosie and Allan loved to travel, go to farm shows, and fairs. They especially loved to be around the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding Rosie in death were her daughter, Barb and her husband Steve; her parents, Henry and Beulah Lilienthal; her sister, Lucille Reed and her husband Dick of Arizona; and a brother, Bob Lewis.
Allan was born February 9, 1940, in Atlantic, Iowa, to Theodore and Mildred (Krough) Hansen. He grew up in rural Anita and attended the Anita schools.
He was married to Rosie Lilienthal November 23, 1958, in Atlantic, Iowa, and then moved to the farm where he and Rosie built their home in 1975.
Allan worked at Lindemans until he began farming and operating Hansen Machine & Welding. He had been a member of the Audubon County Deputy Reserves for 18 years. Allan served with the National Guard.
He was a member of the Brayton Lutheran Church.
Allan loved farming, flying airplanes, welding, going to farm shows and riding shotgun with his son, Bruce, on wrecker calls.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Mildred Hansen; his wife, Rosie who passed away only ten days before Allan; a daughter, Barb Walters and her husband Steve; and his brothers, Dell, Darwin and Terry Hansen.
Allan and Rosie Hansen are survived by their children, Bruce (LeeAnn) Hansen of Atlantic, IA and Sonya (Tom) Gaines of Atlantic, IA; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; Rosie’s brothers Frank (Linda) Altiemier of Reasnor, IA, and Larry (Barb) Altiemier of Omaha, NE; and Allan’s sister Lynette Hansen of Des Moines, IA.
