Lois Thelma Lacy, the daughter of Frederick Isaac and Ella Ida (Friedricksen) Stewart, was born July 19, 1918, at her parents’ home in Cameron Township Audubon County, Iowa and died November 26, 2020, at the Bickford of Urbandale Assisted Living and Memory Care in Urbandale, Iowa at the age of 102 years, 4 months, and 7 days.
Lois was baptized June 9, 1940, at the Methodist Church in Audubon, Iowa. She attended rural Audubon County School, Cameron # 1 and then graduated from the Audubon High School with the Class of 1936.
On December 28, 1936, Lois was united in marriage to Floyd Clifford Lacy in the Presbyterian Parsonage in Atlantic, Iowa. They were blessed with two children Thelma and Lloyd Lee. They operated Floyd’s family farm in Cameron Township before purchasing their own farm. Lois raised the children and helped Floyd farm where they grew row crops and raised livestock. They retired from farming in 1979 and moved into Audubon. Floyd died on January 22, 2001. Lois enjoyed her home then moved to the Friendship Home in Audubon and later moved to Bickford of Urbandale in June of 2014.
Lois was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Audubon and was an active member of the Eunice Circle and served as a leader. She was a member of the Audubon Farm Bureau, the Cameron Country Club, and the Audubon County Hospital Auxiliary.
Preceding her in death was her husband Floyd C. Lacy; her son Lloyd Lee Lacy; her son-in-law Willis E. Umland; her grandson-in-law Bruce Fyfe; her parents Fred and Ella Stewart; her sisters: Frances and husband Frank Bumpilori, Elaine and husband Al Lechtenberg, Claudia and husband Frank Knueven; her brother Stresley Stewart; her parents-in-law John and Lulu Lacy; her sister-in-law Mary Stewart; and her brother-in-law Walter Noerenberg.
Survivors include her daughter Thelma Umland of Urbandale, Iowa, her grandchildren : Dan and wife Deb Umland of Audubon, Iowa, Debra Fyfe of Alleman, Iowa, Diane Umland, and David and wife Kristine Umland all of Urdandale, Iowa; her great grandchildren: Stacey and husband Anthony Barber of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, Michelle and husband Matthew Siepker of Huxley, Iowa, Michael and wife Lizz Umland of Slater, Iowa, Kasi and Brian Wolfer of Elkhart, Iowa, Jacob Fyfe of Alleman, Iowa, and Matthew Umland and Meredith Umland both of Urbandale, Iowa; her great-great grandchildren: Addyson and Tylan Siepker both of Huxley, Iowa, Mason and Drew Barber both of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, Neva and AJ Umland of Slater, Iowa, and Leo Joseph Wolfer of Elkhart, Iowa; her brother Franklin Stewart of Des Moines, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Graveside Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Kathy Kluis, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Audubon, on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Arlington Heights Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa. There will be viewing at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The family will not be present during the viewing times. The casket bearers will be Brian Wolfer, Matthew Umland, Michael Umland, Jacob Fyfe, Steven Sprague, and Justin Sprague.
