(Audubon) Hometown Christmas and Winterpalooza were cancelled in Audubon this year, but the Audubon Chamber of Commerce wanted to find a way for kids to be able to see Santa.
Molly Armentrout, Chamber Director, said they decided to host Santa at your Doorstep.
“We thought if he went to each individual home then there would be no gathering, it would just be people within your household and we could still do the social distancing, plus being outside is just better anyway,” said Armentrout.
The deadline for families to sign up for Santa visits is Wednesday, November 25th by 8:00 p.m. Santa will visit children on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“The more families we have sign up the better we can kind of then go back and tell people to look for Santa to come to your house at ‘this time’. We decided not to do specific time slots for everybody because we didn’t know if Santa was going to spend two minutes or ten minutes at each house. So, there is no specific time right now that he will be there but if you’re home Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. then Santa can stop by your doorstep,” explained Armentrout.
There is a suggested donation of $25 that can be paid to the Audubon Chamber’s PayPal or you can stop by the Chamber. Kids will be receiving a goody bag with their Santa visit.
“That $25 is just a suggested donation, but the Chamber doesn’t get to have any other fundraisers this year and possibly not even at the start of next year like we always do, so that kind of helps us out too” said Armentrout. “The goody bag will have a cookie decorating kit in it, fruit snacks, candy, a painting activity sheet, Chamber Cash and I think there are going to be some more things in there.”
Armentrout said Santa will only be visiting kids in the City of Audubon, but they are finalizing some details so the kids who live in the country can meet up in town to see Santa.
