(Audubon) The Audubon wrestling program has consisted of 10 wrestlers at the high school level during the first week of practice.
The Wheelers have just two seniors on the squad with Javyn Bladt and Kobie Otten. Coach Tyler Christensen says, “They are coming back this year and both hope to make a huge impact for us.”
Others in the fold include, “Lane Barber, Keegan Deist, Alex Foran, and Cooper Nielsen are all back. Alex is a junior and missed most of last year with an ankle injury. He’s excited. He’s a big lineman for us and he wants to make a big impact on the wresting mat as well. We have some younger freshman as well with Zeke Konkler and Manny Beisswenger that are joining us. They are scrappy, they are quick, and they like to get after it so that’s awesome to see.”
Carter Andreasen is returning to the program as well after a successful year at ACGC last year. Plus Derrek Kommes joins the group as part of their sharing agreement with Exira-EHK this season. “He does a great job as well. He kind of took a while off of wrestling. He wrestled when he was little and now he’s getting back into. That’s exciting because we want the most guys as we can.”
One of the main principles in coach Christensen’s program is to control your attitude and effort. “If you have the right attitude and give your best effort things will happen. I also am a huge believer in focusing on the basics. Make the basics perfect and if you’re perfect at the basics you’ll have success.”
Audubon’s schedule shows a first competition date of Thursday, December 3rd. They’ll be in Avoca for a quad with Woodbine, Logan-Magnolia, and AHSTW.
