(Atlantic) The Atlantic School Board received plans and cost estimates to redo the west parking lot at the High School at their meeting Wednesday evening.
Atlantic Superintendent Steve Barber said the west parking lot is not in very good shape, so he had Dave Sturm with Snyder & Associates take a look at what could be done. Sturm told the Board that he changed the layout a little bit because there is a lot of pavement there that doesn’t get a lot of use.
Sturm said with the new layout it would give them 22 more parking spots.
Sturm recommended taking the pavement completely out. He said there is a company out of Anita that crushes pavement and turns it into good useable rock.
Sturm said the plans also address the far north end of the parking lot where buses coming from the west turn south into the parking lot. They would widen that area out about four feet to prevent buses from riding up over the curb when they turn.
Dave Sturm said he will put together an engineering services agreement that will also include plans the fix the sidewalks. The agreement will be placed as an action item on the agenda for their meeting in December.
