(Atlantic) Atlantic Community Schools Superintendent Steve Barber appearing on his weekly show on 95.7 F.M. is in the process of meeting the vision of creating a Construction Trades Program. The district is moving forward with this program now that two highly qualified Industrial Tech instructors are on staff.
In the meantime, a Robotics program has been added at the Middle School, an electricity hands-on opportunity, plus an aviation program at the high school level, which is also being introduced to sixth-grade students.
Barber says in addition to the programs mentioned, the district is offering a small engines class and an electricity class which is a feeder to the other program.
Barber says the district is working with its business partners. He says they need to dip their toe in the water and learn as they go.
