(Ames) ISU Athletic Director Jamie Pollard is distributing the following letter to Cyclone fans:
November 5, 2020
Dear Cyclone fans,
Thank you for your cooperation in adhering to our mitigation measures this fall. You continue to showcase Iowa State University as an institution which has safely hosted fans at sporting events during a world-wide pandemic.
As we prepare for the start of the basketball season, we are continuing to utilize the recommendations of Dr. Chris Hostler of Infection Control Education for Major Sports (ICS) and members of the university’s public health team have worked with public health officials regarding event mitigation strategies for Hilton Coliseum.
After careful consideration, we have decided to allow a very limited number of spectators to attend men’s and women’s basketball games this season. Seating capacity will be limited to 1,373 fans per game (less than 10% of Hilton’s seating capacity of 14,384). Click here for the Hilton Coliseum seating chart that will be used in 2020-21.
The safety of all participants and fans remains our top priority. In addition to limiting the number of spectators, we will also be implementing a number of mitigation initiatives. We encourage you to click this link (desktop | mobile) to see an overview of those measures.
Similar to the football season, we will continue to monitor the community and campus COVID positivity rates, and all information included in this letter, and corresponding documents, are subject to modifications if circumstances warrant changes.
Finally, the Cyclone Club and Athletics Ticket Office will email basketball season ticketholders early next week to explain how we will allocate the limited number of tickets available, on a single game basis, for Cyclone men’s and women’s basketball.
Thank you for your continued support of our athletics program. We appreciate it now more than ever.
Jamie Pollard
Director of Athletics
