(Clarinda) The Page County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident at 12:38 this morning involving two vehicles and a cow.
The accident occurred on Highway 71 near the 18 mile marker approximately five miles north of Clarinda. The investigation indicates that 50-year-old Steven Alan Telkamp of Slayton, Minnesota, was driving a 2020 Volvo semi north of Highway 71. 36-year-old Kurtis Hollon, of Clarinda, was driving a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser southbound on Highway 71. A black cow owned by McCoy Farms Inc. was standing in the road. Telekamp struck the cow, moving it to the southbound lane where Hollon also struck the cow.
Telekamp and Hollon were not injured in the accident.
Telekamp’s semi received an estimated $10,000 in damage. Hollon’s vehicle received an estimated $1,500 in damage. McCoy’s cow was estimated at $2,500.
No charges were issued for this accident.
