(Stanton) Farmer’s Mutual Telephone Company in Stanton is one of three Iowa companies receiving funding from the ReConnect Program, bringing high-speed broadband internet to its rural communities. Along with Senator Chuck Grassley and Senator Joni Ernst, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue announced last week, during a virtual broadband ReConnect announcement event.
This is the second-round funding for Farmers Mutual Telephone Company in Stanton. In December of 2019, the USDA awarded FMTC $6.4 million in first-round ReConnect Pilot Program funding covering 185-miles of Fiber Optic cable.
Kevin Cabbage is FMTC’s CEO and General Manager.
This second round of funding is for a $2.4 million grant and a $2.4 million loan, and covers 167 miles of fiber and connects 954 people, 383 households, and eight businesses.
