(Anita) Lane Spieker ran for 230 yards and CAM toppled Stanton/Essex 68-6 to make it to the round of 16 in 8-Player. The Cougars will be back in action next Friday night against a matchup to be determined.
Spieker averaged 9.6 yards per carry on his 24 attempts with six house calls. For the season he has 1,305 rushing yards and 28 scores. Joe Kauffman and Karter Hilpipre added rushing TD’s Friday as the Cougars stuck primarily to the ground. Their offensive production on the night included 38 carries for 345 yards (9.1 yards per carry) and 3/3 passing for 44 yards. Hilpipre had one of his best games of the year with 63 yards on four rushes. Kauffman added a pick six and led the defense with 9.5 tackles (7 solos).
CAM broke the game open in the 2nd quarter and put it away in the 3rd. They led 6-0 after the game’s first 12 minutes, but outscored the Vikings 24-6 in the 2nd and 28-0 in the 3rd. They are 8-0 on the season. It’s a sharp improvement in the margin of victory over the first meeting with Stanton/Essex which saw CAM win 34-20.
