(Guthrie Center) ACGC put on a good show on their home course Friday. The Charger boys and girls each won the team competition at the Class 1A State Qualifying Meet. They had the runner-up individually in each race as well.
The Charger girls put all five scoring runners in the top 16. Rylee Sloss led the way in 2nd place with a time of 20:33. The only runner ahead of Sloss was defending state champion Peyton Pogge, of Tri-Center, in 19:56. ACGC’s Jorja Hoover raced to a 9th place finish. Hayden Coffman came in 13th, EmmaKay McClain was 14th, and Kiersten Knobbe was 16th. Additional varsity runners were Kelsey Carlson in 33rd and Alyson Embleton in 49th. ACGC’s 51 point total put them comfortably in front of team runner-up Montezuma who scored 98. Both advance to next Saturday’s state meet.
The Charger boys put four runners in the top 11. Trevin Suhr was the runner-up with a time of 17:35. He was six seconds behind individual champ Brett McGee, of Tri-Center. The next runner in for ACGC was Kaden Thompson in 7th. Andrew Mahaffey ran 9th. Justin Reinhart was 11th, Lance Bunde 19th, Bo Arrasmith 23rd, and Miles Kading 29th.
