(Anita) Two weeks ago, the Iowa Department of Public Health announced changes in quarantine recommendations if masks were worn consistently and correctly by a person infected with the virus and close contacts. The person infected would still need to quarantine, but the close contact would not.
CAM School’s Superintendent Paul Croghan discussed the mandate at Monday’s School Board meeting. The district mandated face coverings on October 6 following the announcement by the IDPH. “We’re doing everything we can to keep students and staff in the school,” said Croghan. “The new guidelines motivated people to wear masks.”
Those close contacts should self-monitor, meaning watching for symptoms of the virus over the next 14 days, staying home if symptoms develop, and talking to a healthcare provider about COVID-19 testing in the case of illness. If someone is self-monitoring and becomes ill but doesn’t get tested, they should remain home until 10 days after symptom onset.
In other business, the school board accepted the resignation of assistant wrestling coaches Kody Havens and Oran Perkins, and bus driver Tammy Stevenson.
