(Atlantic) Atlantic Schools Superintendent Steve Barber asks those attending this evening’s King and
Queen coronation ceremony at Trojan Bowl to practice social distancing. Due to COVID-19 guidelines, the traditional coronation ceremony held in the gymnasium on Friday afternoon before the homecoming game will now occur at the Trojan Bowl, following the J.V. football game.
“The coronation will probably be our biggest crowd since the outbreak of COVID-19,” said Barber. “I want to encourage everyone to social distance and take mitigation strategies, and help celebrate the crowning of the king and queen while at the same time keeping everyone safe.”
Barber says there is a lot of space throughout the new facility, and attendees can stand along the fence, and there is room for six-feet of separation in the bleachers. “I just want to encourage everyone to take responsibility to ensure a safe and celebratory night for the Atlantic Homecoming, 2020-2021,” said Barber.
Another significant change will be the parade. The district will be executing a reverse parade, the floats will be stationary, and motorists start south on Highway 71 to 14th street and continue west to Olive Street. Traffic rules must still be followed as this is not a parade with closed-off streets.
