(Area) October 1st marked the start of Iowa’s bow season.
The beginning of the season has been accompanied by some great weather. “Typically we are dealing with a lot of heat and some high temperatures. This year we’ve already had some really cool nights. A lot of hunter bow hunters like to wait for that first frost that eliminates a lot of the bugs out there. I think bow hunters are going to get going early this year.”
Bryan Hayes with the Iowa DNR says harvest being ahead of schedule will have an impact. “It’s going to be an interesting year. The harvest is well on its way already. We’ve already had cool nights so the weather pattern and crop removal really opens things up early for the bow hunters.”
60,000 Iowa hunters are expected to take part in the next few weeks.
