(Harlan) The Harlan School Board and Shelby County Public Health held a workshop at Monday’s meeting in an attempt to better understand each other’s roles during this pandemic.
Schools Superintendent Lynn Johnson says the district is looking for guidance from the Shelby County Public Health Department with their decision making process. Johnson says both the boards agreed to strive to align with the Iowa Board of Education and Iowa Department of Public Health.
Johnson says the discussion also centered on the utilization of face coverings, and the value of face coverings, and why the CDC recommends wearing them.
Johnson points out a change in the contact tracing guidelines. The new guidelines allow more students to stay in school.
In other business, the board accepted the resignation of Liana Hendricks, Elementary Food Service, and accepted contracts for Hope Miller, Elementary Special Education Associate, and James Fleshman, Elementary School Special Education Associate.
