(Atlantic) The Cass County Board of Supervisors wants to get an early jump on budget planning.
Board Chairman Steve Baier drafted a letter to go out to department heads and noted that with the past seven month being a challenge and the next 12 to 18 months having much uncertainty this will not be a normal budget planning year in any aspect. He said one thing is certain; this will not be a year to increase taxes.
“It’s going to be a different budgeting time and it’s going to be one where it’s potentially going to be troublesome to come up with a way to adjust for the unknowns that we’re going to have,” said Baier.
In order to do the best possible job in budgeting, the Supervisors would like input from department heads starting in mid-October.
