(Southwest Iowa) Iowa Farmland prices showed no increase or decrease in cropland values on a statewide average for March 2020 to the September 2020 period, according to the REALTORS Land Institute-Iowa chapter.
According to the latest survey, combining this stable period with the 0.1% increase reported in March 2020, indicates a statewide average increase of 0.1% from September 1 2019 to September 1, 2020.
Crop reporting districts showed variability regarding average farmland value. The districts varied from a 1.3% increase in the South Central district to a 1.7% decrease in the North Central Iowa district since March of 2020.
Southwest Iowa cropland prices for good quality farmland averaged $7,570 per acre compared to $7,525 per acre in March which is an increase of 0.9%. West Central cropland prices rose 1.2% from March 2020 to September 2020. The average price of high-quality farmland landed at $9,996 compared to $9,917.00 in March
The major factors supportive of current farmland values continue to include trade uncertainty, variability in yields for the 2020 crop year, and weather patterns.
