(Anita) CAM’s 54-38 win at Lenox Friday night sets up a big showdown with Fremont-Mills for the outright District 7 lead, assuming the Knights are able to return to the field in Week 6.
Coach Barry Bower referred to the Lenox win as a heavyweight fight. “It was a fun high school ballgame and those guys that got in surely got their money’s worth. I have to give credit to Lenox. They are big, they are strong. They do a nice job of controlling the line of scrimmage. We caused some turnovers which is great. We returned a couple of fumbles for touchdowns, we got an interception down close to the goal line, Lane Spieker had a heck of a night, but our defense did as well.”
Spieker carried 25 times for 125 yards and three scores. He also caught a 35 yard TD from Ethan Arp. Cade Ticknor posted 13 tackles including 10 solos. Jaxson Bell, Joe Kauffman, Connor McKee, and Lane Spieker all had double digit tackle totals. Spieker intercepted two passes. McKee and Kauffman returned fumbles for scores.
CAM moves to 5-0 on the season and is scheduled to play unbeaten Fremont-Mills in Anita next week. The Knights have been idle the last two Friday nights.
