(Griswold) Scott Hansen is the voice of the Griswold Tiger football team. The longtime school board member will be our halftime guest during this week’s East Union at Griswold football broadcast.
Hansen has a long history behind the mic (roughly 15 years?) in Griswold and has also done some PA announcing for Griswold softball. He jokes about he he got started, “A series of misfortunate events. It started out with Phil Rink who was the Superintendent when I first got on the school board. He was the PA guy at the time and they were needing somebody to run the scoreboard. He talked me into doing that and then one thing led to another. I got the job, I think maybe because nobody else wanted to and I’ve been doing it ever since.”
Hansen says he enjoys keeping things light during the games. “I enjoy doing anything I can to help the kids. You have to make things fun. For instance the last home game we were playing Lenox and we share a Superintendent with Lenox. So when they came up to our place a couple of Friday’s ago I made a special announcement. I said we’d like to welcome our guests and point out that Dave Henrichs will be fair and unbiased throughout his cheering tonight. In the first half he’ll be rooting for the Tigers and in the second half he will switch over allegiance and rooting for the Tigers.”
