(Guthrie Center) Officials with NextEra Energy gave an update to the Guthrie County Board of Supervisors Tuesday on the wind turbine project.
Guthrie County Auditor Dani Fink said the 40-mile long transmission line and wind farm will run from Audubon County to Adair County and goes into a small portion of Guthrie County in Grant Township.
“They currently have 90 percent of signed voluntary easements, they’re working on finishing the rest and it sounds like they’re planning for construction to take place in early spring,” explained Fink.
The project consists of up to 71 wind turbines capable of generating up to 200 megawatts of clean, renewable energy.
In other news, Guthrie County Conservation Director Brad Halterman informed the Supervisors that Lenon Mill Park in Panora will be closed for six to eight weeks beginning on September 28th. He said they are adding in four new camping pads, updating electrical boxes and installing a new transformer.
