(Stuart) A Stuart man was arrested on numerous charges following a pursuit early this morning.
The Stuart Police Department arrested 43-year-old Shane Edwin Davis for Eluding, Driving While Barred, Reckless Driving, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and four traffic citations.
An officer with the Stuart Police Department conducted a traffic stop at approximately 12:30 a.m. on a black car traveling eastbound on East Front Street in Stuart when the vehicle pulled over and did a U-turn on the highway and drove past the officer in the opposite direction. The officer pursued the vehicle at speeds up to 100 miles per hour. During the chase, Davis turned the vehicle’s s lights off, drove on the wrong side of the road and failed to stop at all stop signs.
The chase ended in the city of Redfield. When the vehicle came to a stop at the intersection of Clark Street and Jefferson, Davis exited the vehicle and began to walk away. The officer then drew his service weapon and ordered Davis to get on the ground. Davis complied and was placed into handcuffs. A search of Davis’ person resulted in finding a broken glass pipe. A search of the car resulted in finding an orange smoking device and a pack of cigarettes containing another glass pipe.
Davis is being held at the Guthrie County Jail awaiting his initial appearance.
