(Oakland) After having their first two meets of the season cancelled the Riverside cross country team will compete two times in as many days. The Bulldogs ran Monday in Red Oak and are at AHSTW on Tuesday.
Among Monday’s highlights were Ben Schroder placing 4th in the boys race and Becca Cody earning 8th in the girls race. Coach Alex Oliver says the team was excited to have their first meet after so many weeks of practicing. “I think they were tired of seeing me everyday and getting a workout that was going to make them tired by the end of it. So I think it was an exciting feeling for them to get out and race and see some competition instead of pounding the gravel near Oakland.”
He says the group is progressing in the right direction. “After a month of training From week one until now I feel like the confidence is growing. We still need to round out as a team and compete even more, but right now I’m happy with where we are at.”
Other finishes for the Riverside boys on Monday included Mason McCready 15th, Eric Duhacheck 16th, Brant Spies 29th, Clayton Spies 34th, and Conner Stevens 40th. They were 4th in the team scoring with 93 points. Stormy Noble placed 22nd.
