(Anita) CAM lost one match in their first tournament of the season, but haven’t suffered a set back since. Coach Jenna Maiers and the Cougars are on a roll with a six match winning streak.
Most recently the squad defeated both Woodbine and Griswold. The Woodbine win came in dramatic fashion and keeps CAM atop the Rolling Valley Conference standings at 3-0 against league opponents. Coon Rapids-Bayard (1-0) is the only other team without a conference blemish. After falling behind two sets to none against the Tigers on Thursday, CAM rallied back to take the next three sets and win the match. Set scores were 22-25, 24-26, 25-22, 25-16, and 15-5.
Taylor Bower recorded 31 assists, Mady McKee had 11 kills, and Marisa Spieker led in digs with 13 in the Woodbine win. McKee and Spieker both had big serving performances with five aces apiece. McKee went 23/24 behind the line and Spieker was 22/22.
In the team’s 2-1 victory against Griswold set scores were 25-19, 23-25, and 15-5. Taylor Bower had 17 assists. Zoey Baylor and Mady McKee each posted eight kills. Marissa Spieker recorded 9 digs with Maddie Holtz and Reese Snyder each posting 7 digs. Mallory Behnken went 15/17 serving with 4 aces.
