(Anita) A big rushing night from Lane Spieker and a stout defensive performance were the story lines of CAM’s 72-0 win against East Union in Week 3.
The Cougars posted 32 2nd quarter points in the victory. Spieker ran for 222 yards and five scores on 15 carries. Four of his final five rushing attempts of the night ended in the end zone and he also returned a kickoff 67 yards for a TD.
CAM ran for 345 yards in the win with Cade Ticknor adding a couple of scores on the ground. The junior fullback rumbled for 38 yards on his three rushing attempts.
Ticknor was also a central figure in holding East Union under 100 yards of offense. He posted 6 tackles and a fumble recovery. Connor McKee and Brody Paulsen also recovered fumbles for the Cougars. Reese Oglesbee had a team high 7 tackles with three of them being tackles for loss and Colby Rich notched three sacks.
CAM led 14-0 at the end of the first quarter and 46-0 by halftime. In addition to the performances of Spieker and Ticknor, Ethan Arp and Ty Flathers added second half rushing scores.
The 3rd ranked Cougars will travel to East Mills next week. 0-3 East Union meets Fremont-Mills next.
