(Guthrie Center) ACGC used some bulletin board material to fire them up ahead of their Week 2 win at Central Decatur. The Chargers came away with a 43-7 win to even their record at 1-1.
Head coach Cody Matthewson says, “They said they wanted to spread us out and turn it into a track meet. The kids took that to heart and we have some athletes too and we can get outside as well. The kids did a great job and on the interior we did a great job of being physical. I’m really proud of the kids. It was a great bounce back game.” Coach Matthewson says the goal was to run for 500 yards and they were able to put up a big figure on the ground.
The defense nearly came away with the shutout. “We did a heck of a job flying around, playing with our hair on fire, and making stops. We didn’t get in tough situations. We did a great job of taking momentum every single time.”
The Chargers host Woodward-Academy for their homecoming game in Guthrie Center next week.
