(Redfield) Nodaway Valley placed four girls in the top 11 and won the girls meet at West Central Valley on Thursday. The Wolverine boys had four in the top 14 to come away with a 2nd place finish in their season opener.
Leading the way for the Nodaway Valley girls was individual runner-up Sophia Broers. They also had Abby Engles in 9th, Lily Day 10th, and Erin Ford 11th.
Grace Slater, of Audubon, was the individual champion in a time of 21:16. Hannah Thygesen finished third for the Wheelers in 22:13. Katelyn Nielsen placed 6th.
CAM was led by Mia South with a 7th place finish. Exira-EHK’s top runner was Camryn Paulsen in 19th.
The Nodaway Valley boys finished with three of the top four runners. Toby Bower won the race with Ben Breheny as the runner-up. Coming in 4th for the Wolverines was Doug Berg with Malachi Broers 14th.
Other local highlights included CAM’s Ethan Follman snagging a 10th place finish. Exira-EHK’s top runner was Treaven Hill-Borger in 32nd.
