(Oakland) The Riverside football team announced their presence with authority in Week 1. The Bulldogs tamed Red Oak 45-0.
Coach Darrell Frain says the game was won at the line of scrimmage. It’s an area they’ve improved on drastically over the past few years. “We have offensive linemen that look like offensive linemen and it hasn’t been that way in the past. We have to take advantage of them while we have them.” Eddie Vlcek, Kaiden Hendricks, Wyatt Hough, and Eli Ryun are among the main ‘Dawgs up front with Jon Alff and Gage Schuster contributing.
Frain says they shook off a poor practice on Thursday and came into the game under control. Rhett Bentley ran for over 100 yards, Austin Kremkowski completed all but one of his throws with two TD’s. Brogan Allensworth topped 100 yards receiving and intercepted two passes. Caden Manzer was listed by coach Frain among the leaders defensively.
They’ll oppose West Monon-Whiting next week.
