(Oakland) Riverside started off the volleyball season with a 2-0 start. The Lady Dawgs defeated both Bedford and Essex at home on Tuesday with Kenna Ford’s milestone headlining the wins.
Ford compiled 59 assists on the evening to run her career total over 1,000. The three-year starter posted 276 assists as a sophomore and 721 last year to enter her season season with 997.
Riverside also got solid production from the likes of Izzy Bluml and Veronica Andrusyshyn among others. Bluml posted 16 kills on the night and Andrusyshyn had 15 kills along with 10 digs. Ari McGlade had 11 digs on the evening. Ella Hensley had seven kills against Bedford and three vs Essex.
Set scores in the Bedford win were 22-25, 25-20, and 16-14. They defeated Essex 25-19, 25-16.
Riverside will return to action Saturday at the AHSTW tournament.
