(Atlantic) The Atlantic School Board during a special meeting on Monday morning approved the section in the second and final reading of the revised COVID-19 related Policy dealing with face coverings.
The School Board voted across the board for the wording on the policy as follows: Social Distancing will be the main priority for district buildings. Face coverings are encouraged to be worn for students and staff in grades Pre- K-through-5th grade, and expected to be worn, for students and staff in grades 6-through-12th grade when social distancing cannot be obtained. Masks or face shields will be provided to individuals who request them. Reusable masks should be washed regularly for individuals wearing them.
The wording is changed from the original section of the policy stating: non-medical grade face masks are encouraged by all individuals on school grounds, including students, employees, and volunteers.
During the baseball/softball season this summer the board approved a practice allowing parents to transport their children to and from activities. The board approves the modification to extend the option through the 2020-2021 school year.
In other activity; the school board approved Steve Andersen’s resignation as a car driver and approved contracts for Jennifer Rumery, Food Service, Dick Casady, Car Driver, and Abby Becker, Volunteer Assistant Cross Country Coach.
