(Atlantic) The Trojan Bowl football stadium construction project continues to progress. Atlantic schools Superintendent Steve Barber provided the Atlantic School Board with an update at Wednesday’s School Board meeting.
“The Trojan Bowl is finally looking like a football stadium,” said Barber. “Crews have made good progress over the past couple of weeks,” said Barber. “Although there is a lot of work yet to be done, it appears the turf will be installed shortly after the rock base is complete.”
Barber says the concrete crew will soon pour the north curb separating the track and the field. The bleachers are nearly complete, and the press box will be placed on top of the home bleachers on the west side of the stadium possibly next week.
Barber said the field is about to final grade. They started work on Wednesday laying rock for the foundations of the asphalt track. Asphalt paving is scheduled to start next week, along with the base for the turf, followed by the installation of the synthetic turf.
The scoreboard and time lock poles are installed, and a date will soon be set for the installation of the new scoreboard.
The first Atlantic home football game is September 18.
