Marvin Maynard Clark, the son of Edward and Dorthea (Ridlen) Clark, was born June 19, 1936 in Hancock, IA. Marvin died August 6, 2020, at the Oakland Manor Nursing Home in Oakland, IA, at the age of 84 years, 1 months, and 18 days.
Marvin attended school at Oakland, graduating from Oakland High School with the class of 1954. On November 30, 1958, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Leaders in Council Bluffs, IA. Marvin was drafted into the Army and served in Germany before returning to California to finish his service. After being honorably discharged, he and Carolyn moved back to Iowa. Marvin worked as a technician at several different implement dealers before working at Macedonia Implement for 30 years. After retiring, Marvin drove for Keast Chevrolet in Oakland.
Marvin was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church. He had many hobbies and interests, including: model trains, collecting marbles, flying RC model airplanes, making marbles and jewelry out of stones, collecting John Deere toys, collecting beer steins, building toy boxes, working in the garden and flowers, and visiting the casino.
Marvin is preceded in death by his daughter Debbie; his parents; and his sister Mildred.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn of Oakland, IA; his sons, Dean Clark and fiancée Nancy Zwickel of Johnston, IA, and Doug Clark and wife Amy of Council Bluff, IA; his grandchildren: Tyler (Kylee), Alexander, Devin, and Sidnie; his great granddaughter Amari; and Zoe and Summer. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A private family funeral will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2020, at 10:30 AM at the Oakland United Methodist Church in Oakland. The funeral will be streamed on Facebook Live at the Rieken Vieth Funeral Home page. Interment will be in Belknap Cemetery. An open visitation will be held at the Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland on Wednesday, August 12, 2020, from 9:00 AM until 7:00 PM. The family will not be present. Marvin’s family would like everyone to know that they would love to have a large traditional funeral service for Marvin but will be keeping it private, due to health concerns during this time of COVID-19.
