(Atlantic) Day one of the Atlantic Golf and Country Club’s Tournament of Champions is in the books. Four golfers in the open division shot under par over their first 18 holes with Andrew Martin (Past Champion) and Aaron King (Sac Country Club) leading the field with 67’s. One stroke back at one-under par are Matt Weresh (Past Champion) and Darby McLaren (Atlantic Golf and Country Club). Zach Christianson (Atlantic Golf and Country Club), Ryan Clark (Briarwood Golf Club), and Alec Barber (AH Blank GC) all shot an even par 69. There are 38 competitors in the open division.
Rick Carter (Past Champion) and Mike Martin (Nishna Hills) lead the senior circuit after each shot a 3-over par 72. Jim Wood (Red Oak CC), Eric Brown (Mount Ayr G&CC), and Darron Baker (Past Champion) round out the top five among 23 golfers.
The Super Senior division has Rick Thompson (Past Champion) with a sxix stroke lead over Jim Mullenix (Past Champion) and Arnie Liestad (Past Champion). Thompson was -3 with a 66, while Mullenix and Leistad each shot 72. There are 19 entries in the Super Senior division.
