(Council Bluffs) A Pottawattamie County man faces attempted murder charges after allegedly firing a rifle into a crowd of people outside a lounge in Council Bluffs.
According to Police, the incident happened at around 11:23 p.m. on Saturday at Sugars Lounge. Police say 25-year old Benjamin Merksick left the establishment to get a rifle following a verbal confrontation with two others inside the bar. Merksick then shot the weapon several times in the vicinity of numerous patrons. As Merksick attempted to reload, two of the people at the scene took Merksick to the ground.
There were no injuries reported at the time of the incident. Authorities transported Merksick to the Pottawattamie County Corrections and charged him with Attempted Murder, Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, and Going Armed with Intent.
