(Harlan) All Harlan Community School District students will return to school on August 24, five days a week. The Harlan School board approved the return-to-learn plan on Thursday night.
Harlan Schools Superintendent Lynn Johnson says the 22-page return-to-learn plan addresses all seven aspects of the state requirements.
Johnson says one of those modifications is the use of face coverings.
Johnson says face coverings will be used in locations where it is not possible to social distance.
The students will be required to wear face masks when they arrive at school and walk through the crowded hallways. Once in the classroom, if physical social distancing is possible the masks can come off.
The plan also includes social distancing at the elementary level, limiting contact, cleaning high touchpoints, and water fountains and lockers will be closed off to keep traffic flowing in the hallways.
The district will offer remote learning to students as well.
