Phyllis Jean Rush of Griswold, IA died Sunday, July 19, 2020 at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, IA at the age of 87 years, and 1 month.
Phyllis was born June 19, 1933, the daughter of Arthur & Pearl (Stover) Brouse. She graduated from Griswold High School in 1951. On January 13, 1951 she married her George Rush of Griswold. They farmed in the Griswold & Elliott areas until they retired. They then moved to Griswold.
Phyllis was a member of the Griswold United Methodist Church and member of the young mother’s club (later known as the grandmother’s club)
They moved to the assisted living in Griswold in the spring of 2016. Then in the fall of 2019 Phyllis moved into the care center.
Preceding Phyllis in death were her husband George in 2016, her son’s Dan in 2009 and John in 1974, her parents, her sister Loretta Cable, and brother Lloyd Brouse
She is survived by her son Joe and his wife Kathy Rush of Griswold, grandchildren, Adam Rush and wife Blair of Red Oak, Ben Rush and wife Chelsie of Griswold, Amanda Rush and husband J. of Essex. Her great grandchildren, Avery & Ruby Rush, Becket & Sutton Rush, and Noie & Conner Rush. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives, and friends.
A private family graveside gathering, will be held at the Griswold Cemetery at a later date.
