(Audubon) Audubon County Public Health and has entered into a sharing agreement with Guthrie County for in home health services. The 28E agreement was signed at this week’s Audubon County Board of Supervisor’s meeting.
Cross jurisdictional sharing has been a growing trend in among public health departments. Audubon County Public Health Administrator Bob Nelson says, “The main reason to do this is it’s more fiscally conservative to combine in home health between counties. As time goes on regulations increase and it’s becoming more and more important to have software and expensive programs and expensive options and services that small counties just can’t afford.”
Nelson stresses Audubon County Public Health is not going away, but the in home health will be contracted out to Guthrie County. “Guthrie County started doing this multiple years ago. They were able to start absorbing some other neighboring services so they are just continuing to do this. The state has given them permission an so it works out real well. Guthrie County does a great job with the other counties they are working with and it’s just a good fit.”
All of the same services will continue to be offered. The contract is effective July 1st.
