James Loren Brown was born December 27th, 1968 in Council Bluffs IA, and passed away June 29th, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs at the age of 51 years, 6 months, and 2 days.
Jim became an Eagle Scout as a young man, and went on to lead a Boy Scout troop for a while; he loved to participate in pinewood derbies. He studied Sign Language Interpretation at Iowa Western Community College after graduating from Oakland High School in 1987.
He loved spending time in his community and helping make it better however he could, setting up the Oakland food pantry as an Eagle Scout project, proudly opening a thrift store in Oakland, and selling sweet corn out of his truck in the summers. He also loved singing karaoke, going fishing, boating and camping, putting on and seeking out yard sales, watching football (especially the Kansas City Chiefs), and spending as much time as possible with his family and dog.
Jim lived in Oakland IA with his wife Cynthia Brown, and parents Loren and Sharon Brown.
He is also survived by his daughter Tara (Max) Case of Omaha NE; step-son Brandon Sayles of Cedar Rapids IA; brother Johnny (Lindsy) Brown of Carson, niece Elee Brown, nephews Dawson Brown of Carson IA, and Connor Thibault & Anthony Thibault of St. Catherines ON; brothers-in-law Patrick Coover and Jon (LaDonna) Coover of Council Bluffs IA; uncle Paul (Claudia) Brown of North Platte NE; aunt Ruby Jewett of Lebanon MO; uncle Wayne (Lynn) Dawson of Oakland IA; and many, many more loving cousins and friends.
He is welcomed in death by his best friend and maternal grandmother Wilma Dawson; maternal grandfather Enos Dawson; paternal grandmother Myrul Brown; paternal grandfather Merl Brown; as well as several uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
There was nothing Jim loved more than being a father and uncle. He is already very missed.
Interment will be at a later date. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is assisting the family.
