(Anita) Exira-EHK softball stayed perfect on the season with a 12-0 decision at CAM on Wednesday. Macy Emgarten allowed only one hit and one walk in the three inning contest and struck our four batters. She’s 10-0 on the year with 91 K’s.
Lexi Madsen singled and scored in the 2nd inning to give the Spartans the early edge. The third inning brought an offensive onslaught that few probably saw coming. Tatum Grubbs got the momentum started with a leadoff double. It was one of three extra-base hits the team would post in the frame. Ten straight Spartans reached safely and the game quickly got out of reach. After the double by Tatum Grubbs the following offensive exhibition took place: Shay Burmeister had a bunt single, Alisa Partridge was hit by a pitch, Mollie Rasmussen and Kami Waymire delivered back-to-back two run doubles, Quinn Grubbs had an RBI single, Lexi Madsen walked, Makenzie Riley reached on an error, Macy Emgarten had an RBI single, Tatum Grubbs added a second hit of the inning, Burmeister had an RBI groundout, Partridge was hit by another pitch, and Rasmussen had an RBI groundout.
Allison Spieker had the only hit for CAM while Reese Snyder drew a walk. Of the nine outs that Emgarten recorded in the circle, four of them were K’s and two were groundouts to the pitcher.
The Spartans are 10-0 overall and 7-0 in the conference. One more win will make them outright conference champs. They have a one game lead on Woodbine and the two squads will meet up Friday. West Harrison is also 5-1 in the Rolling Valley, but Exira-EHK already has a head-to-head advantage over the Hawkeyes. CAM is 8-6 overall and 5-3 in the league.
